Title: I lost my data - is there a way to restore it?
Post by: Adam on August 10, 2010, 11:12:53 am
We've had a few emails from people who have lost their data by accidentally deleting Time Master (or their kids did), lost apps when updating to a new version of the iOS or something else.  Of course, we always recommend doing frequent backups with Time Master Central or using the iTunes "File Sharing - Documents" option, but if you are reading this now, it's probably too late.  So what can you do?

The first thing is if Time Master did get deleted is DO NOT SYNC with iTunes.  The iTunes backup will still have a copy of Time Master with it's data, but if you sync it without having Time Master on the iPhone, it may delete this data from the backup.  You will need to extract the database file from the backup first.  You will need a (free) 3rd party program.  Here are the links for a Mac & PC version.

Mac version

PC version

In either version you will need to locate "TimeMaster" and extract the data.  Open the "Documents" folder and find the "database.rsd" file.

If you are running iPad OS 3.2x or iOS 4 or higher, in iTunes, select your device.  Click on the "Apps" tab.  Scroll down to the "File Sharing" section.  Select Time Master.  Click on the "Add..." button and add the "database.rsd" file that you extracted.  You should then be good to go.  Note that this will replace all the data on your device with the data that you had when you last did your backup.

Hope this helps.  If you get stuck, shoot us an email or give us a call.
