We've had several comments on our icon and splash screen graphics. (guess that's what happens when programmers do the icons.  Wink ) We are now holding a contest and all you graphics guru's to submit your best work and urge everyone to vote on them. The ones with the highest votes will be used in a future version.

I would like to open the competition now and close out the entries by August 14th.  The voting will commence on August 15th and close out at the end of September 2010, so please post your stuff ASAP!  Smiley

The sizes we need are as follows.

iPhone icon: 57x57
iPhone splash: 320x460

iPad icon: 72x72
iPad splash portrait: 768x1004
iPad splash landscape: 1024x748
(note iPad does require both portrait and landscape).

Let the competition begin!

Thanks
Adam.

Here is my first submission, I will need to tweak the designs for the iPad release but I figured I would get something up here.  I have attached a .pdf document below.

As someone outside of USA a big please – don't use a prominent $ dollar sign for the graphics. I love the USA but it is so irritating when developers impose their nationality on the rest of the world! It also makes would-be international purchasers doubt if apps can be localised for themselves.

Anyone else?  So far Luke has been the only person to send up some cool stuff.  I'm tempted to just put up his icon for the next version!  I'm going to try and paste in the graphics inside this message so that people can see what he did.  (note: you must be registered to see them).

Okay so here is my entry. In my opinion rather than just awarding a designer by just choosing his/her work to be used on the app, I think it would be even nicer if you would allow the designer's credit to appear on the splash page. For my entry I have added my credits at the bottom.

Should my work be selected, I will gladly provide you with the icons and the iPhone version for the splash.

Hope you like it!

Why not let the best submission be the default icon and splash screen, but also allow end users to add their own icon and splash for their particular installation?

It would be cool for me to create a custom company icon and splash screen for my copy of the program.

Thanks!

That is not possible.  We would have loved to make it so that you could put up your own splash screen, but that graphic has to be "hard coded" into the app (compiled).  Unfortunately it is just the way that Apple did this.

Something I was mucking around with a while ago... converted to use a more "on-core" purple. It still needs some work but the basic idea is there...

Okay here we go..... Two versions, no problem producing splash pages etc if I'm selected.

Here's the first...

I'd prefer to see an icon that visually represents the function of the app. How about a stopwatch plus a ledger or invoice? Honestly, a 12 hour clock face or calendar are completely wrong because they do not correctly describe this app.

If you are any good at doing graphic (I suck obviously ;-), send it up asap and I'll add it to the poll.

Unfortunately, I'm a programmer too. I'll give it a try though. Don't be so hard on yourself, your original stopwatch plus money describes the app's function pretty well, and it has a professional look.
